At Food Matters, we provide expert facilitation services tailored for organisations, community groups, and social movements.

With deep experience in participatory workshop design, we use engaging and accessible approaches that help you engage stakeholders, centre lived experience, and support participants to feel less inhibited in their participation.

We specialise in participatory facilitation—a process that ensures the people most impacted by decisions are actively involved in shaping them. This inclusive approach champions the idea that people are experts in their own lives, and uses community development approaches to amplify their voices.

Using proven participatory techniques, we create safe, inclusive environments where participants feel less inhibited about sharing their experiences and expressing their feelings. Our participatory approach is based on an acknowledgement that lasting and meaningful change is more likely when the people who will be affected by a change participate in deciding what the change should be.  That’s why, in any workshop or event that we facilitate, we make sure we really listen to, and understand, our stakeholders and participants, and involve them in the design of the workshops they will be attending.

We provide participatory facilitation through a range of different packages and services, including:

  • Participatory Workshops: Engaging sessions tailored to meet the specific needs of participants, drawing upon a range of interactive facilitation methods

  • Strategic Planning Facilitation: Collaborative planning sessions to define goals and strategies for community groups and movements

  • Community Consultation Services: Gain valuable insights through structured dialogue and participatory feedback processes

  • Team Building Facilitation: Designed to strengthen collaboration and communication and with the specific needs of your team / community in mind

  • Research & Evaluation: Specialized research services with a focus on food systems, social equity, and community wellbeing.

  • Community Engagement: Participatory initiatives to connect with and involve community members in your projects
