Together with the Alliance for Dignified Food Support (AFDS), we provide a training offer comprising of four modules, designed to support local authorities, food partnerships and community food support organisations to move beyond short-term reliance on emergency food aid, towards the development of a fully integrated, preventative, resilient and dignified food and local support system
Embedding dignity and trauma-informed practice in community food support
Dignity and trauma-informed support in food support is essential to building resilient local food support systems. Our first training module supports community food organisations in embedding dignity and a trauma-informed support in their organisations. In this one-day session, we provide practical guidance on applying the ADFS Dignity Toolkit, auditing your own services and working to create your own action plan. We then build an understanding of how trauma affects service users, and how to respond in ways that promote safety, dignity, and trust.
Establishing organisational resilience while transitioning from reliance on emergency food aid
We support local authorities organisations to develop long-term, sustainable responses that reduce reliance on emergency food aid through transforming their local food system. We explore cash-first approaches, how to invest the crisis resilience fund, defining the future role of local food support organisations, lived experience in policymaking, and more.
Transitioning from traditional emergency food aid models to resilient, dignified and sustainable community food projects
Our third training module supports you in the transition from traditional emergency food aid models to designing resilient, dignified, and sustainable community food projects. We explore how to evaluate your current model, agree on a new strategic direction, and develop approaches that promote community engagement.
A food system transition strategy for preventative community food provision
Our fourth training module is aimed at local authorities using the Crisis and Resilience Fund to transition the toward ending reliance on emergency food parcels, by developing a three-year strategy together that considers benefits, housing, health, and social care support.
