We design cookery skills courses for people facing barriers to cooking, including asylum seekers and refugees, care-experienced young people, those in the criminal justice system, young mums, and learning disabled people.

Cookery Skills

Our cookery skills courses are all about hands-on learning and shared experiences. We prepare and cook affordable healthy meals from simple ingredients, using basic equipment. We break down learning to cover all aspects of cooking – the nutritional value of food, where and how to buy ingredients from, and how to cook.  Participants help prepare a nutritious meal together, which we then enjoy as a communal lunch.

‘Freya has such great approach, makes the course intersting and has covered so much information that will be useful to us inside and out. I’ve enjoyed the cooking, eating and tasting new things and have loved taking recipes to try one day.’
